Short Bio:

Dr. Shoude Guan, associate professor and master supervisor at the Sanya Oceanographic Institution, Ocean University of China. His research interests include tropical cyclone-ocean interaction and ocean internal waves. Based on mooring observations, Dr. Guan uncovered the nonlinear interaction between internal tides and tropical cyclone generated near-inertial waves, and also the suppression effect of internal tides on tropical cyclone intensification in the South China Sea. He further reported that global warming accelerated the landfall intensity of western Pacific typhoons. Dr. Guan has been responsible for six projects from NSFC, Chinese Academy of Sciences and published more than ten peer-review papers in international marine professional journals such as JGR.
