Short Bio:

Dr. Jiwei Tian, professor at the Sanya Oceanographic Institution, Ocean University of China. Dr. Tian was deputy head of the expert group, for the topics of ocean monitoring in marine technology field of 863 Program, and PI of the project “Research on multiscale dynamical processes around key islands in the South China Sea”, which was supported by the National Basic Research Program (973 Program). Dr. Tian’s research interests focus on the dynamics of multiscale processes in the ocean; his work significantly advanced the study of multiscale ocean processes and theory of deep ocean dynamics in the South China Sea. Dr. Tian also engaged to develop new and applicable ocean instruments to monitor special ocean processes, such as the microstructure recorder anchored in mooring system, etc. He also led the scientific design of the South China Sea Mooring Array. Dr. Tian has published nearly 100 peer-review papers in international marine professional journals such as Nature Communications, JPO, GRL, JGR etc.; he has authorized 4 international invention patents and 8 national invention patents. Dr. Tian is or has been the PI of lots of national projects, including 1 project from the 973 Program, 3 Key Programs from the NSFC, etc.
