Short Bio:

Dr. Wei Zhao, professor at the Sanya Oceanographic Institution, Ocean University of China. Dr. Zhao engaged in the monitoring, investigating and application of multiscale dynamical processes in the South China Sea, such as internal waves, mesoscale eddies, etc. As PI, Dr. Zhao build the South China Sea Mooring Array consisted of 42 subsurface moorings, which is the largest regional ocean observing system in the world, to monitor multiscale ocean processes in the South China Sea. Dr. Zhao is or has been the PI of more than 20 national projects, including the National Key R&D Program of China, the key projects from National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 Program), the NSFC Key Program, etc. Dr. Zhao has published more than 50 SCI papers in international marine professional journals such as Nature Communications, JPO, GRL, JGR etc.; he has authorized 4 international invention patents and 10 national invention patents.
